Norcal HP Indoor High Performance Teams

2018 – Largest Delegation at HP Championships!

2017 Bronze Medalists – Boys International Junior Division

2016 Gold Medalists – Boys International Junior Division

In conjunction with USA Volleyball, the NCVA will continue our Regional High Performance program. Participating athletes will represent our region in either an inter-regional USA Volleyball High Performance Championship tournament in July or the European Global Challenge Tournament in July. The goal of the High Performance Program is to provide volleyball athletes with the best coaching and competition available in Northern California. Many athletes attend the National Tryout to compete with the best athletes in and around the Region. Attending a National Tryout can help to increase an athlete’s visibility, particularly if the players plays for a team that does not get much exposure to collegiate recruiting.

Members of NCVA High Performance teams will have the opportunity to:

  • Compete with the best athletes in the country within their age groups both in the USA & abroad.
  • Play with some of the best athletes in Northern California.
  • Receive top quality coaching and instruction.
  • Learn USA Volleyball systems and techniques.
  • Increase individual visibility, particularly for those from club teams with low exposure.

In July, our participating athletes will represent the NCVA in an inter-regional USA Volleyball High Performance Championship tournament. This event is run by USA Volleyball.

Travel Days: July 20-27, 2020

Tournament Dates: July 22-26, 2020

Tournament Site: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
David L. Lawrence Convention Center
1000 Fort Duquesne Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

Region High Performance Programs are the local branches of the USAV National High Performance Pipeline.

The goals of Region Programs are the same as the National HP Program:

  • Build a broader and stronger pipeline of athletes and coaches for our U.S. Olympic Teams.
  • Provide player development through training, evaluation, and competition opportunities.

Region programs allow athletes in different areas of the country in the Select, Youth, and Junior age groups the chance to get involved with High Performance without attending a National tryout. Regions have the flexibility to administer their Region HP Program in a number of different ways, from simple 3 day camps and training clinics to comprehensive programs that include coaches’ education, sustained athlete training, team selection, and travel to inter-regional or international competition.

The experience that athletes have playing with High Performance Programs is unlike any other opportunity available for junior players in the United States, offering access to National-level volleyball training in their own backyard. To be chosen to represent one’s Region is another avenue to be trained in the techniques and systems actually used by our Women’s National Team in their practices. Region High Performance also offers athletes exposure and recognition on a National scale without having to play on Court 1 at a National Qualifier or qualifying for Junior Nationals.

In addition, playing on a Region High Performance Team offers the opportunity to play at the USAV High Performance Championships, an exclusive international tournament hosted by USA Volleyball in July of each year. Participating teams include USA National A1 and A2 Teams, USA Continental Teams, other Region Teams and teams representing a number of different countries, including Italy, Peru, Puerto Rico, Chile, Canada and Dominican Republic in recent years. The unique experience of participating in an international tournament with some of the top junior players in the world is exclusive and gives players empowering leadership experience.

When are players notified?

Tryout results are communicated directly to players and their parents via email. Once players accept a position, they are posted below under team rosters. Once teams have 9 players on a team, we will select 4-6 alternates for each team. Alternates will be notified via email.

Notifications will begin to be sent on March 31st.

Thank you for attending tryouts!

Does my player need to attend every tryout?

Players are not required to attend all tryouts. We offer several tryouts to allow more players to attend and compete. You are encouraged to attend as many tryouts as possible to get more court time with our coaches. We highly recommend a second tryout if you feel you first was not what you wanted due to sickness, schedule, etc.

Do I need to pay more than once if my player plans to attend more than one tryout?

NO! Only one registration is required, one tryout fee for all three tryouts.

I am not able to attend the tryout with my player, what will be discussed?

At the tryout, we will review the Parent Meeting Handout and answer any questions.
